Drama following a woman who moves into a seemingly happy and content community, but is ultimately murdered by someone living close by. The series begins with Jan's death, before reverting back to the day she moves in, slowly leading viewers down the path to her mysterious death.

Huw is convinced that Jan is an undercover police officer, much to the annoyance of his wife Caroline. Gruff, meanwhile, becomes increasingly concerned about the prospect of a half-naked image of him appearing on the internet, and Richard and Sali continue to play little games within their soulless marriage. Richard pays more attention to his new neighbour, and Jack's 18th birthday party proves an ideal time for the residents to meet, mingle and fall out.

Betty pushes Ben to worm his way into Jan's house by starting a new relationship, but he expresses little interest. Meanwhile, Huw continues to worry about the drugs he has hidden in the woods and becomes convinced that Jan has moved onto the close just to spy on him.

Someone on the close dies unexpectedly and mourners gather to pay their respects. Meanwhile, Jan returns from her work trip and is shocked to discover her house has been broken into. As Richard and Sali's relationship continues to deteriorate, Jan plants more seeds of doubt in Cerian's mind.

Jan's neighbours make it clear they want her to leave the Close, and an unexpected visitor forces her to divulge more about her past than she is comfortable with. Meanwhile, Ben tries to persuade Beti to get help from a doctor following a bout of troubling behaviour.

Mark follows Jan to the Close, shedding more light on her background. Plus, her reasons for moving to the street are revealed.

Jan's inevitable fate creeps ever closer as tensions continue to mount on the close, and as further drama unfolds the identity of her killer remains unknown. However, a discovery made by Richard in the days leading up to the newcomer's death looks set to provide vital clues. Linda's life becomes increasingly complicated, and Huw finds himself contending with his disruptive wife and her troublesome brother Bobo, and Tony appears to rule himself out as a suspect after taking to his bed.

Jan's 35 days slowly come to an end, but it remains to be seen who will be responsible for her death. Other issues to come to the fore include what happened in Jan's car after Bobo's appearance and whether the latter has disappeared from the Close forever. Having discovered some of Jan's secrets, what are Mark and Richard shielding? Tony, meanwhile, is left stunned when someone appears in his bedroom.
