A Filipino family, a Portuguese-American family and a family from New Orleans brave Valerie Bertinelli's kitchen challenges for a chance to win $10,000 for their family-run restaurants. In the first round, they must transform their best-seller into a taco combo. Then the remaining two families have to make a three-course meal using vanilla ice cream in each dish, working together to impress judges Christian Petroni, Courtney Rada and Jet Tila.

Mexican-American, Italian and Laotian families compete to prove their food is best and take the $10,000 prize home to their restaurant. In the first round, Valerie Bertinelli challenges them to make a spicy special without any of their usual spicy ingredients.
