Manuela, a photographer living in isolation, meets young Alba, who lives a life devoid of her parents' love. Concerned about her, Manuela takes Alba. However, Alba's mother Yolanda panics.

While attempting to adopt Alba, Manuela realises her wallet was stolen; the police investigate Alba's disappearance and question Yolanda as to why the young girl was outside alone at night.

Manuela and Alba, now known as Paloma, have to come to terms with Manuela's flawed past as they seek her family's help; the town criticises Yolanda and Lucho when the truth about Alba's abuse comes to light.

Fabio discovers a link between Alba and Manuela and summons Manuela to court to testify; when Yolanda and Lucho are arrested, they deny abusing Alba.

Manuela informs everyone that Paloma is her daughter, which comes as a huge shock, especially to Héctor, her ex-boyfriend; Yolanda and Lucho arrive in Madrid.

Manuela's family continue to doubt Paloma's true origin; Manuela locates her biological mother; the commissioner suspects a connection between Alba's disappearance and Manuela's departure.

Upon calling Manuela's number, Yolanda finally has a lead on Alba's whereabouts; Manuela's family discover Paloma's real identity; Manuela plans to run away again, only to discover Paloma missing.

Manuela's troubles only get worse when Fabio is rolled over, while she bonds with her biological mother; Héctor learns the truth about Paloma.

The police arrive at the home of the León family; Yolanda recognises the fact that Manuela has Alba and finally gets a hold of them.

Yolanda is left with no other choice but to accept Alba's decision; Manuela, Paloma, Rocío and Fabio devise a strategy to break free from the police and Héctor.

Manuela and Paloma are separated when the police find them, giving Yolanda an opportunity to get Alba; Rocío tries to help Manuela by taking full responsibility for everything.

Manuela is released from prison but is issued with a restraining order against seeing Alba, who must go back home with Yolanda and Lucho. However, Alba and Manuela don't wish to be separated.

When Yolanda and Alba go on to live with Manuela to get as far away from Lucho as possible, he plans to seek his revenge on all of them for all the troubles he has encountered because of them; the León family finds out about Manuela's father.
